If you're trying to get Ubuntu Linux running on a Thinkpad A22m, and the OS boots up but the display is weird and fragmented into vertical bars, try hitting the Fn key (lower left corner of keyboard) with F7. That should cycle through monitor outputs and clear it up.

I picked that trick up at Free Geek Vancouver's Ubuntu Linux clinic.

Thanks. I think this might be the problem we've been having with my profile on Ernie's eeePC.

That's cool that FreeGeek was able to help! I wanted to point out that Ubuntu Vancouver is a group of people interested in free (as in freedom) computing. Although we love to support FreeGeek, we are also an independent group and a vibrant community of computer enthusiasts. All are welcome to our events and meetings, and we have many many knowledgeable Ubuntu (and GNU/Linux) people always ready to lend a helping hand. Come and check us out! https://wiki.ubuntu.com/CanadianTeam/Vancouver
